Adoption Process
Our goal is to match every dog with a safe, committed home.
We're a volunteer-run rescue and transport is included with every adoption, so we ask that you apply only when you're fully ready to bring a dog home.
What the adoption fee covers
Your adoption donation is tax-deductible and includes:
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Microchip
- Heartworm test (for dogs 6 months and older)
- Rabies and DHLPP vaccines (two boosters for puppies), plus Bordetella
- Health certificate for transport
- Transporter fee to your forever home
How adoption works
- Submit an application. Every adoption starts with our online application. We review each one to see whether the dog is a good fit for your home and lifestyle.
- Phone interview. If your application fits the dog's needs, we'll schedule a call to learn more about your experience, expectations, and home environment.
- Video call with the foster. Approved applicants meet the dog's foster home over video — a chance to see the dog's personality and ask about routine, behavior, and training.
- Virtual home visit and reference checks. A virtual home check, plus personal and veterinary references, completes the approval.
- Transport to your state. Once approved, your dog is placed on the next transport. Transports run every few weeks and the fee is included.
Good to know
Serious applicants only. Because every member of our team volunteers their time, please apply only when you're fully committed — and make sure everyone in your household is on board.
Breed and age are estimates. Listed breed, age, and adult size are our best educated guesses based on veterinary guidance. Most rescue dogs have no reliable background, so exact mixes or ages are rarely known.
Transport availability. We transport to select cities on the East Coast, in the Midwest, and in the Pacific Northwest, plus some Canadian areas where adopters can cross the border to a U.S. pickup point. We can't ship everywhere — if you're unsure about your city or state, email us before applying.
