We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. __

Dagger is a 6.5-month-old (estimated DOB January 2026), spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She is being fostered in Houston, Texas, and can transport to an approved adopter arranged by the rescue. A photo of her mom, Wanda, is included in the profile for reference. Mom weighs approximately 55 pounds.

This little family was rescued from the woods in a rural, well-known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda gave birth to her litter during a Texas freeze, and a kind networker discovered her with her 2-day-old puppies. We were able to bring Mom and all six puppies to the safety of a foster home, where they've had the chance to grow up loved and cared for.

Dagger, the fearless little lady with a heart full of cuddles, is looking for her forever home. She absolutely knows how to stand out. Named for the sharp little white triangle on her neck, the dagger-shaped marking on her blaze, and her former shark-puppy teeth, she's since traded those tiny love bites for the sweetest little love nibbles that melt hearts instantly.

Now an older puppy, Dagger has the best of both worlds. She still has plenty of playful energy but is beginning to settle into a wonderful companion. She is potty trained and continues to grow into a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog.

This dainty girl is equal parts athlete and cuddle bug. She loves to leap, climb, and test the limits of any enclosure (future family beware, she's a talented little escape artist!). But after all the excitement, Dagger's favorite place in the world is curled up in her person's lap, soaking up affection and gently reminding you she loves you with her signature little love nibbles.

Fearless by nature, Dagger approaches life with curiosity and confidence. She's also the social butterfly of the bunch, usually the last one to leave the party and the last one to eat dinner because she's too busy having fun. While everyone else settles down, Dagger is still trying to squeeze every last second out of the adventure.

She's playful, loving, mischievous, and incredibly affectionate, the perfect blend of adventurous spirit and loyal companion. Anyone lucky enough to bring Dagger home won't just get a dog. They'll gain a tiny best friend with endless personality and a whole lot of love to give.

Dagger is friendly with strangers and almost always has her tail wagging. She enjoys playing with other dogs and has been raised alongside her littermates and her mom. She has not been tested with cats but has been around children and has done well.

Although Dagger is past the tiny-puppy stage, she is still very much an adolescent and is continuing to learn about the world around her. She's looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building her confidence, and helping her continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help her thrive.

One of the most important things for a dog this age is continued socialization. Safe, positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs help build lifelong confidence. We love seeing our young dogs grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication, and boundaries in ways humans simply can't replicate, so we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Dagger.

That said, we understand that not every home has another dog. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization. This might include structured training classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, supervised daycare, or other safe opportunities for positive canine interaction. A proactive approach is essential.

Because Dagger is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. She'll continue to benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction as she grows into adulthood.

Raising a young dog takes time, flexibility, and dedication, but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and becomes a confident, well-balanced member of the family.
